Mini-Blog: Who's That Pollinator?

Who's that pollinator?! It's a black and white ruffled lemur! In Madagascar, these black and white primates are the main pollinators of the Traveler's Palm tree! The lemurs scramble up the 40 foot trees to snack on the delicious nectar contained in their flowers. As the lemurs stick their long snouts and tongues into the blooms, they collect pollen on their muzzles and fur, bringing it to the next flower! Once the tree bears fruit (thanks to their help with pollination) the lemurs have another food source! This relationship gives lemurs the distinction of being the world's largest pollinator! 

Isn't it amazing how the trees rely on the lemurs and the lemurs rely on the trees? No matter where you live, pollination is so important!
