These booklets are a great add on to the cup of caterpillars to enhance the learning experience. My 8 and 6 year old daughters both enjoyed them. We worked on the Budding Entomologist for 4-6 year olds this time and I am saving the Junior Entomologist booklets for 7-10 year olds for the future as they have more writing and my 8 year old currently has a broken arm. But both of them enjoyed all the activities included in the booklet!

We ordered both journals for the younger and older kids. While they are full of activities and busy work, I was hoping for more of an emphasis on learning activities and reading. I do think both journals should have a daily ‘draw your observations’, not just the younger kids. And it would be nice to have more about butterflies, the order of metamorphosis that actually describes what happens, not just pictures, what they eat as caterpillars and butterflies, how long they live, describing what an entomologist actually is and does etc…My girls enjoyed the packet for the grown ups that came with the set that describes how to care for them, what happens when one falls etc… more than the word finds and crossword stuff in the actual journal.

Our class LOVED this activity! The products arrived in a quick time, instruction & set up was easy to follow.

Love the differentiation in the books! They are not the same but have great information for both age groups. Emailed about ordering more individual books and they were more than have to help! Would be great to see samples of the inside though so we can make a more informed decision when purchasing.

We have used Insect Lore for several years, but this was the first time using the journals. They are thoughtfully laid out and the children found the super engaging. They learned a lot.

Such a fun and easy activity that allowed all of us to witness the transformation of catepillars to beautiful butterflies.

This is the 8th year I have done this and it's exciting every time. I ordered 4 cups of caterpillars. All 20 caterpillars turned to butterflies :). We just released them with my students yesterday and they had so much fun.

I ordered 2 containers of caterpillars. One container was perfect with producing 5 butterflies, but the other only produced 3 butterflies. Two of the chrysalis didn’t complete the process! This was still a great experience for my kindergarten class!
