Under the Microscope: Butterfly Eggs

It's time to take a fascinating look under the microscope. No, these aren't tiny watermelons - they're Painted Lady caterpillar eggs! Look closely and you can make out the shape of the baby caterpillars that are close to hatching; the small black dot inside the clear eggs are their heads. These little 'pillars are hungry and ready to hatch - and for many of them, their first meal will be their very own eggshell!
